Women’s Institute

Women’s Institute
Catering particularly for country women, the Women’s Institute (WI) network in England and Wales (the Women’s Rural Institutes are an equivalent in Scotland) offers social and educational facilities. Noted for its middle-class, middle-aged image, the organization moved to Britain from Canada in 1915. Still flourishing, and visible selling homemade produce and handicrafts at fairs and village halls, the WI has around 9,000 branches in Britain.
